Grown in the luscious outskirts of the world-famous Sinharaja Rain forests of Sri Lanka, Kithul gets in the hands of farmers who follow extremely time and sunshine sensitive recipes of Sri Lanka. Similar to Kithul treacle, this solid food sweetener is also used in preparing Sinhala and Tamil traditional sweets as well as the delicious dessert called

‘Watalappam’, which is a delicacy in the celebrations of Muslim households. The use of Kithul jaggery extends to a production of Palm wine in Sri Lanka, and peace of jaggery could always be served with a cup of tea and herbal porridge as replacement to sugar.
